Meet our Faculty

Miss Amy discovered from an early age that her body loves to express itself through the form of dance and visual arts. She began her studies at Backstage Dance Academy, led by her teacher Miss Amy Fernandes, it was her teacher who inspired her and her love for Ballet. Miss Amy has competed many years on a competition team and competed all over including Disney world (2x) and had the opportunity to dance on the beauty & the beast stage not once but twice, alongside taking multiple dance conventions as well. Miss Amy knew at a very young age she would want to teach dance, she wanted to share her love & passion with others, but not to just teach her students but to inspire them to be the best they can be wether it be in dance or any other aspect in life.

Miss Sam is the Office Manager at Evolution Dance Company and also assists with teaching Primary classes on Saturdays. She brings a strong foundation in early childhood education and a passion for supporting both students and studio operations.

She holds multiple degrees in Education and Interdisciplinary Studies, including a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Merrimack College, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from UMASS Amherst. During the day, Miss Sam works as a Kindergarten Teacher for New Bedford Public Schools at Hayden McFadden Elementary School.

Miss Sam’s dedication, adaptability, and willingness to support the studio in every capacity make her an essential member of the Evolution Dance Company team.

Miss Addi's passion for dance began when she was 5 years old. She grew up dancing at The Dancer's Edge where she became a competitive dancer. She has a wide-range of training in all styles of dance but excels mostly in hip hop and tap. Miss Addi is a current student at UMASS Dartmouth in the Nursing program, planing to become a RN. Because of dance Miss Addi has had the opportunity to perform at T.D. Garden, Universal Studios, & Disney Springs. Miss Addi has been able to travel all over the country for dance. Miss Addi was an assistant teacher for many years at her childhood studio, and has been a lead teacher with EDC for 2 years now. Miss Addi continues to expand her dance education by attending dance conventions. Outside of the studio Miss Addi loves to enjoy pilates session, put time into her ballon business, and catch up with friends over iced coffee.

Shavonte is a Student Teacher at Evolution Dance Company who brings over a decade of dance experience to the studio. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge, creativity, and love of dance with younger students in a supportive and encouraging environment.

She is currently a senior at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational High School, where she studies Business Technology, and will be continuing her education at Dean College, where she will join the Dean College Dance Team. Through her role at the studio, Shavonte continues to develop her leadership, teaching, and communication skills while gaining hands-on experience in a professional dance education setting.

Shavonte’s dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to both her education and dance training make her a positive role model and a valued member of the Evolution Dance Company team.

Alex is the Office Assistant and Spanish Translator & Interpreter at Evolution Dance Company. With nearly nine years of experience in education, he brings a strong background in communication, organization, and student support.

Alex holds multiple degrees in Education and Interdisciplinary Studies, including a Master's Degree in Special Education from Merrimack College, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from UMASS Amherst. In addition to his role at the studio, he works as a Pre-Kindergarten Special Education Teacher for New Bedford in an ABA-embedded classroom.

His dedication to education and accessibility makes him a valued member of the Evolution Dance Company team.
